The Proposal

Mike and Olivia had been planning a trip to England for months—a chance for Mike to meet more of Olivia’s family and experience the places that shaped her childhood. Their first international trip together as a couple was scheduled for late August 2023, meticulously planned eight months in advance. What Olivia didn’t know, however, was that this trip would mark an even bigger milestone.

Quietly and thoughtfully, Mike had spoken with loved ones, received her family’s blessing, and, of course, secured the ring—setting the stage for a proposal she would never see coming.

With bags packed, tickets in hand, and the ring safely tucked away in a carry-on, they set off

on their long-anticipated adventure.

On August 30th, Olivia planned an excursion to Lechlade, the hometown of her late grandparents.

A quaint Cotswold town nestled along the banks of the mighty Thames, Lechlade is a place steeped in family memories and natural beauty—a place that now holds a special significance for them both. Under a clear late-summer sky, they wandered the picturesque footpaths and rolling hills of the English countryside. As she reminisced about her childhood visits, the day took on a quiet sense of importance.

Eventually, they found themselves in a secluded clearing in a far-off pasture. It was there, surrounded by the peaceful expanse of nature, that Mike asked the question.

Olivia—completely caught off guard—admits she doesn’t even remember exactly what he said (though we’re sure it was heartfelt). What she does remember, however, are the tears, the overwhelming joy, and her unequivocal YES. In that intimate moment, shared only by the two of them (and perhaps a cow or two in the distance),

they began the next chapter of their story.

Now, Mike and Olivia would like to extend
